I bought this fountain kit in May of 2023 and it is STILL preforming beautifully. I love that the pump shuts off when there's no water. The shut off feature stops the motor from burning up when the bird bath empties out. My birds take some pretty wild baths and splash the water out. Especially my Robins! I do go out a couple times a month and remove the housing from the pump to clean the algae out which helps it run better and keeps the water fresh for the birds.
This little Gadget surpassed my greatest expectations! I don't understand all the people complaining about having to keep refilling their bird bath with water. For one, strong wind will blow the water out over the edge. It doesn't have to shift or slide to for that to happen. Which, on that note, I didn't have any shifting or sliding with mine. Also if you're using it in the summer with sun and heat, the water will evaporate. So, of course you have to refill it. I took a video which I couldn't figure out how to upload so I screenshot pictures of the video. You may not be able to see it but my Fountain is placed squarely in the middle of my bird bath. The 4 extension rods perfectly keep it there. However, when there strong breeze blows the water out and over the edge of the birdbath which may account for losing lots of the water. You may notice in a couple of the pictures, the water spraying off to the side. That was when the wind would blow. And I would lose some of the water over the edge. This had nothing to do with the fountain itself and can't be helped. Also, I don't know how big other folk's bird baths are for people who say their fountain floats off to the side but once I attached the 4 plastic straw like extension pieces, like I said, my mind remained centered. Overall I love this water fountain Gadget. In these pictures I used the filter that made the water shoot up the highest. I decided later I wanted to change it and when I took it off rrealized it works perfectly without any filter attached! It creates the most adorable little bubbling gurgling kind of fountain effect. With that you don't have to worry about the breeze blowing the water over the edge. I decided to keep it that way for a while until I feel like changing it. It is now December and I bought this in the early fall. I was so worried when one day not long ago it got really cold and the water froze in the bird bath. I thought for sure, after that it would be broken but later when the sun came out and melted the ice it was back to bubbling and being adorable again! As far as I'm concerned I've already gotten my money's worth. Just get it. And it's also so relaxing to look at.
I have found that these solar pumps aren't long lasting, so don't expect it to work for years. This is the only one I've purchased that lasted more than a season and I run it year round. I simply turn over the panel if freezing temps are expected, which isn't often in the southwest where I live. It works just fine in my small bird bath that doesn't require a forceful output. The cord is long enough to be in the sun all day, where the bird bath itself is in the afternoon shade.
Enjoy seeing it.. still waiting for birds to use it!
We have purchased many solar fountain pump kits for our bird feeder, and eventually they quit working because the solar panels become coated with calcification or a film. This solar panel does not go into the birdbath and works quite well! Definite upgrade.
only works in direct strong sunlight, but when the sun is strong so is the water flow.exactly what I expected for the money.
Thank you for the fast delivery All around cart!
For what it is, it works really well. I got the 9 V one and it’s definitely more powerful. I have bought about eight different pumps in the last six months from different sellers and this one I am the happiest with so far. I added my own tubing.
Works great but needs a larger solar panel to work with a bit of clouds.
I love this. I made a makeshift fountain for the birds and bugs. The cord attached to the solar panel is really long so it is easy to ensure it receives light from what may be a necessary distance. There are a few different nozzle pieces to give you some options on the height and pattern of the water. I have had it running all summer and the birds do love it.*Make sure to maintain the water level so the pump doesn't burn out.
Works good. As long as your un the sun. Doesn't hold any power unfortunately
Looks real good. Great flow and truly enjoyed it. It does need sunshine to make it work at its best. I had it in a bird bath that got LOTS of birds. It stopped working by end of summer, I think due to feathers and stuff got into the motor. It does have a filter you can clean easy, but I don't think I got it all out.I will buy another one for next year.
Work perfect
The pump finally worked right. The two holed power supply cord attaches to the solar cord both ways. No where in the manual did it say to line up the arrow with aThe line on the pump. When I switched it around it worked great.
Worth every penny! I got more birds and pollinators
So. First thing I am going to say is if you don't live in a place that's a good location for solar.. guess what. This won't work well for you. Because it's solar. I live somewhere that is very good for solar and this works great. Correct it needs more or less full sun, but since it's for the birds, I don't mind if it's not running 100% of the day. As I mentioned, my location is very good for solar so even in very light cloud cover (or medium cloud cover during the height of the day) it still works, just maybe a little slower. It always runs when it is hottest out and that's what I need it for. I didn't get the disk shaped pump, I got the small, square submersible pump. I bought some 1/2 vinyl tubing (1/2" O.D, 3/8 I.D) and set it up to make a tiered fountain. The birds love it already.
I ordered 2 of these pumps, I received 1 of them and 1 of some other pump that was obviously used with missing pieces but included mud. This pump that I actually ordered is great, works very well and was easy to set up. I'm using it for a fountain I made and have no issues with it. I may have to move the solar panel around because of the way the sun moves through my yard, but that's why I bought one with a long cord. If I hadn't ordered 2, I'm not sure I would have realized I received the wrong pump, so double check what you receive. This one was packaged in a box and had instructions with all of the nozzles.
Purchased to make a bird bath where I had no electric outlet in back yard. Works wonderful. Would purchase again.
I bought this pump back in May 2024, so I've had it running continuously in my birdbath for 3 months. So far, it has held up very well. It only operates at full strength/pressure when it's in full sun, otherwise it just pulses, but that's to be expected from something that is solar powered. However, when it's full sun, it's a good strong spray all day.NOTE: you do need to clean this thing maybe every couple weeks. We have hard water where I live, so I started to notice a chalky white buildup on the surface after a month or so. You have to clean that or it blocks the solar panels. Also, you MUST clean the filter. You just pry the larger black box off the back (the little spigot hole is attached so you'll pull that whole mechanism away from the disc), pluck out the little filter, and rinse it out in the sink. I thought my pump had stopped working, but once I scrubbed away the hard water stains and cleaned the filter, it started working again like the day I got it. Great little pump!
We love this for a bird population
Birds love this
Easy to use. No wires. Functions best in bright light only. Works as described. Solar.
The best and I’ve had it for a year with no hiccup.
Great value and be sure to keep the filter clean. Birds and cats love the moving water.
Love the floating fountain. One trouble is it does float and can float into shade then it doesn’t work. The spray also goes outside the span of small containers which leads to replenish the fountain frequently. No birds ever came but children really enjoy it.
Works great and always get compliments on the fountain in our birdbaths. Birds love them too as the water is more natural since it is moving. The different fountain nozzles are fun to experiment with. In full sun, the fountains generally last a year before replacement is necessary.
Birds love this. My deck is flooded with birds and they help keep mosquito levels down. The spray keeps larvae from developing, so not a source of breeding water for mosquitos. I have bird feeders, but this brings more birds to yard. It is fun to see all of the birds and in very hot weather helps keep the birds alive. It floats so that you can have a supply of water that you do not have to keep replenishing. It is very easy to rinse off any dirt and lots of fun to watch the many birds it brings to your yard. Great value for something so easy to use, easy to clean and help keep insects at bay.
I loved the idea of this but all of the tips made the water spill out of the birdbath . I ended up having to use it without any of the sprayers . The quality is good and it wasn’t hard to use . It is solar powered so if you have it in a sunny spot it will do well .
Fussy Dante float on top of the water as one would want.
